. Square dancing is a very important dance to the United States of America. It's the U.S.'s National Dance by the way. It is a classic in the minds of my Americans out there but not that many of them know what it really is. During the last few weeks, we have learned the dance and we learned many things about it. In this essay, I am going to tell you what know like the history of it, the moves I kind of remember, and why it is taught in school.
The history of square dancing is that it was't created in America but during the 1600 in England as they did a early version of the dance. The dance was also inspired by folk dances in Scotland, Scandinavia, Spain, and France during the time. When Europeans began moving to the 13 colonies they brought there very popular and folk dances with them, and in the following years, french dancing styles were very popular because of the American revolution. As time passed the dance was not popular anymore until it made a come back fresh new stuff like instead of memorizing every step, a caller would say what they would do. By the late 19 century, square dancing was dated until in the 1920's Henry ford decided to bring back square dancing. In the 1950's callers began developing standards for square dancing across the United States, allowing more people to know it making it popular again especially in certain parts of the country like Texas.
Now we talk about how to dance the square dance. I was a backup dancing when we were learning how to do this so I don't really member it that much. I do remember only a couple of moves so don't judge me that much. I remember that we needed 8 people so that each has a partner which would be 4 set of partner and they have to form a square. Then we do-si-do them and and promenade around the square until we are back to our original spot, then we look at our corner painter and then ether allemande them ether left or right depending on what the speaker says and then go back to the partner and promenade with them, then it is basically like that but in different orders sometimes.
The finally thing in this essay is why square dancing is taught is in school at all. Is square dancing important and why is the main question that many High School have when they are learning it during P.E. I am here to tell you why it they teach us this dance and why. It is probably because I does count as physical activity that gets our hearts moving and to make use sweat. Another reason might be that because it is the national dance, the school districts would try to make use learn it and P.E is the only place they can put it in.
In conclusion square dancing is kind of interesting and not as boring as everyone thinks it is. The three things that I said in this essay was the history of square dancing. another is how to actually dancing the square dance. The other is why square dancing in taught is school in the first place. That is all
